Add your Reel creative
Drop an image or browser-playable video. It opens from a temporary local URL and never leaves your device.
Free · private · no signup
Upload your Reel image or video, see what Instagram UI and common crops may cover, then drag a real headline or CTA to test its placement. Export a transparent 1080 × 1920 overlay when you are ready to edit.

One-minute workflow
Start with your own media or use the demo. The checker separates “covered by interface controls” from “cropped on another surface” so you know what kind of risk you are fixing.
Drop an image or browser-playable video. It opens from a temporary local URL and never leaves your device.
Use the conservative Reel overlay first, then check the lighter UI, profile-grid 3:4, and feed 4:5 views.
Move the test label over your intended text position. Fix any red verdict, then download the overlay or proof image.
Reference coordinates
All coordinates below use a 1080 × 1920, 9:16 canvas. They are the named working views used by this checker—not a claim that every Instagram account and app version renders identical controls.
| View | Visible / safer rectangle | Reserved top | Reserved bottom | Side handling | Best used for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Conservative Reel UI | 840 × 1220 px | 250 px | 450 px | 60 px left; action rail to 180 px right | Headlines, logos, CTAs, faces, and product labels |
| Lighter Reel UI | 880 × 1470 px | 200 px | 250 px | 50 px left; action rail to 150 px right | Comparing a less crowded organic viewer |

Four practical checks
A safe-zone overlay is not only a top-and-bottom margin. Buttons, long captions, crop ratios, and cover surfaces affect different parts of the same creative.
Keep a key face, logo, or first line away from the upper account and audio labels.
Leave extra space on the right for like, comment, share, remix, and audio controls.
Long captions and CTA controls can make the lower part of a Reel especially unpredictable.
Compose a cover so its subject still reads when the full 9:16 frame is shown as a shorter centered crop.
Honest methodology
Published “Instagram Reel safe zone” measurements conflict because the interface is not one permanent template. We would rather show the uncertainty than hide it behind false precision.
Built for the actual job
A static overlay is useful in an editor. A browser checker becomes more useful when it combines the overlay with your real media, playback, a movable text box, and a clear result.
Check a cover still or play and scrub a vertical clip below the same overlay. Use fill-frame or fit-inside to expose aspect-ratio problems.
The file picker creates a temporary local object URL. No media bytes, filenames, typed test copy, dimensions, or duration are sent to analytics.
Type your real headline or CTA, drag it into position, and get a safe or at-risk result for the selected view. Arrow keys work too.
Download the selected 1080 × 1920 overlay for CapCut, Canva, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or another layered editor.
Creator questions
Short answers for the decisions creators usually need to make before export or upload.
Send the device, app version, surface, and a redacted screenshot. Good reports improve the next verification pass.
